Pettitt’s SuperValu Bray is celebrating a major achievement after store manager Aidan Doyle was named National Grocery Retail Manager of the Year at the prestigious ShelfLife Grocery Management Awards 2025.
A Passion for Retail
With more than 30 years of retail experience, Aidan has been recognised for his exceptional leadership, passion for the trade, and commitment to building a strong team culture. Judges praised his ability to inspire colleagues and deliver outstanding results, noting his remarkable impact since taking the helm at Pettitt’s SuperValu Bray four years ago.
In that short time, Aidan has more than doubled expected sales in the store’s first year under his management and, most importantly, developed a culture of trust, empowerment, and excellence among the team.
Top Honours for Aidan
The awards ceremony took place at the Royal Marine Hotel, Dublin, on Wednesday, May 14, with almost 360 industry leaders in attendance. Hosted by RTÉ Radio One’s Shay Byrne, the event culminated in Aidan receiving the top honour of the night. The award was presented by Owen Clifford, Head of Retail at Bank of Ireland, alongside John McDonald, Publisher of ShelfLife.
Recognition of Excellence
Speaking about the recognition, Nikki Murran, Director of Grocery Recruitment at Excel Recruitment, described Aidan as “a true career retailer – someone who lives and breathes the trade” and commended him for “building a culture so strong it has become the backbone of the store’s continued success.”
The Pettitt’s SuperValu team is immensely proud of Aidan’s achievement, which shines a light on the values of leadership, resilience, and customer focus that drive the store’s success every day.
