About St.Aidans Pettitt's SuperValu
Pettitt’s SuperValu St. Aidan’s has been trading since 1975. Based in the heart of Wexford town, the store is a main stay for many loyal shoppers for 50 years.
Pettitt’s St. Aidan’s enjoyed a full revamp from top to bottom during 2021 / 2022, creating a new-look store, with ergonomic features including updated Fresh Food Counters, upgraded CO2 refrigeration and over 560 Solar PV Modules, helping create a more sustainable shopping environment.
In February 2023, Pettitt’s St. Aidan’s was awarded Large & Overall SuperValu Store of the Year at the National Conference held in Killarney. Independent competition judge and retail consultant Paul Ellison adjudicated the judging process, which focused on product range and quality, customer service, store presentation and innovation, fresh-food offering, store hygiene standards, and sustainability.
The honour acknowledges the exceptional standards consistently achieved by the Pettitt’s SuperValu team.
The store achieved an outstanding score in key categories such as Bakery, Kitchen, Cook At Home and Florist offerings.
The store is fully equipped with eco-friendly LED lighting, using 60% less energy than standard lighting, while its refrigeration units will run on naturally occurring gases, saving 500 tonnes of CO2 per annum, the equivalent of planting 25,000 trees, compared to standard refrigeration gases. These measures will complement SuperValu’s ambitious sustainability targets which are focused on packaging and carbon emission reductions as part of our ambition to positively impact the world we live in.
Pettitt’s was also commended for its professionalism in leadership and management. Pettitt’s St. Aidan’s were commended for the support of their dedicated team who consistently delivered excellent service, the judging showed.
The branch demonstrated dedication to its community through partnerships with both the Wexford senior hurling and football teams, along with local GAA club St. Martins, while also supporting a variety of local charities, groups and organisations.
