Pettitt’s Flower Care
Tip #1:
Tip #2:
Keep your flowers away from heat and bright light.
Sometimes people think they should set their vase of flowers in a sunny windowsill since that is where a plant would be happiest. However, cut flowers are actually the opposite of potted plants. They are at their peak of perfection. Sun and heat will encourage them to “mature” and thus quicken their demise. Instead, keep your cut flowers in a cool dark spot if you would like them to last as long as possible. Avoid placing ripening fruit or vegetables (especially apples & bananas) near your flowers, as they will cause them to wilt.
Try to keep your plant out of draughts and harsh, direct sun. Snip off any faded flowers to help it keep blooming for longer. In spring and summer, give your arrangement a liquid feed every couple of weeks.
Be sure to keep your bouquet somewhere cosy when the weather turns cold.
Tip #3:
Use “flower food” for most flowers.
While changing the water every other day or so is often just as effective for making flowers last longer, adding those flower food packets that come with packaged flowers are beneficial as well.
In addition to “feeding” the bouquet, these food packets contain a bactericide that keeps the water fresh for a day or two longer.

Florist FAQ's
What will happen if the recipient isn't home?
If they are not home, the courier/driver will leave a message on their phone or a calling card for instructions for redelivery or collection.
Do you deliver during weekends?
Saturday delivery is available from all Pettitt’s stores, however no delivery is currently available on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
Collection is available 7 days a week from all Pettitt’s stores.
Do you deliver to hospitals?
No, unfortunately, we cannot deliver to hospitals.
Can you deliver to the workplace?
Yes, we can deliver to any location within our catchment, provided we receive adequate details.
How can I contact you?
Please contact your local store and they will help get you in touch Pettitt’s Florists, alternatively email us at pettitts@pettitts.ie and we will ensure our Pettitt’s Floral Team reach out.
How are the flowers packaged?
Our online bouquets arrive ready to wow – and we mean it. Our bouquets and arrangements will arrive safely packaged to ensure no blooms are harmed!
Simply remove the outer box to reveal your fresh bouquet which arrives safely tucked in an aqua pack – this is a water bubble that keeps them hydrated until they’re ready to be popped in a vase.
Can I design my own gift, choosing the colours & flowers?
You can make requests, but you can’t design your own bouquet from scratch. After you choose the kind of bouquet you’d like, you’ll see a Makers Notes box, that’s where you can pop in suggestions to your florist. You might say something like ‘they love purple’, or ‘they’re a big fan of roses’. We can’t guarantee they’ll be able to meet every request, but our Pettitt’s Florists really do put so much love and care into each bouquet, so they’ll try their best.
